LINKBack - Our Elders' Stories is a community theatre program engaging Elders in the sharing and celebration of their stories. The stories we seek are times in their lives when the Elders stood up against injustice and fought for rights or the rights of another.

ABOUT

LINKBack - Our Elders' Stories is a program engaging engaging elders in the sharing and celebration of their memories and life experiences of Activism and Standing UP for what they believe in.

Elders in the sharing and celebration of their stories. The stories we seek are times in their lives when the Elders stood up against injustice and fought for their rights or the rights of another.

In Spring 2018 PROOF expanded the program to include a diverse range of senior centers in order to document and embrace more stories. The stories gathered have been curated and edited into a podcast narrative that highlights the lessons learned from our elder activists and celebrates their investment and commitment to social justice, and advocacy.

Listen to diverse voices and stories of Activism from our elder activists; push back against the Vietnam War, advocacy and action amidst the HIV AIDS crisis of the 80’s, racial justice, immigrant rights and the hope for the future as young people rise up and follow in the footsteps of our elders.

PAST PROGRAM: Spring 2017

PROOF worked with the resident community at Cobble Hill Health Center in Brooklyn. Weekly sessions of performance and stories were held with the residents to inspire and engage them in their stories of activism and courage over their lifetimes. The stories gathered were the inspiration for an original performance written and performed by PROOF and a team of artists. The performance created was "linked back" to the residents to mirror back to them their extraordinary stories and experiences.
